Merrill E Brown

Merrill E. Brown, 94, of Veedersburg, died 2:34pm Friday February 17, 2012 at St Elizabeth Central Hospital in Lafayette, Indiana. Mr Brown was born March 26, 1917 in Kingman, IN the son of Hiram and Lulu (Towell) Brown. He married Margaret Phipps January 16, 1942 in Terre Haute, Indiana; she preceded him in death in 1994. Surviving family include nieces and nephews, Mike & Beth Ann Dehaas, Hillsboro, OH; Michael & Sue Miller, Cincinnati, OH; Katie Farmer, Dayton, OH. He graduated from Kingman High School in 1935, and was schooled one year at Central Normal in Danville, IN. He was drafted into the US Army Medical Corp in 1942 and served his country during WWII, he was honorably discharged in 1946 as a Sergeant and X-Ray Technician. In 1951 he and Margaret moved to the Mississippi Delta where they enjoyed the southern way of life, farming, growing cotton and soybeans. In 1984 after retiring from 33 years of farming in the south they returned to Indiana. He was a member of the Veedersburg United Methodist Church. Funeral service will be 7:00 pm Thursday February 23, 2012 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Pastor Matt Swisher officiating. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm Thursday and continue until time of service.Burial will be 10:00 am Friday February 24, 2012 at Bonebrake Cemetery, Veedersburg. Memorial contributions may be given to Veedersburg United Methodist Church.
