Gayle Coffman Lee

Ambia Gayle Coffman Lee, 95, of Covington, passed away at 1:35 am Monday July 9, 2012 at The Waters of Covington. She was born November 20, 1916 in Veedersburg to the late James Philip and Lula Ellen (Crawford) Butts. She married David H Coffman in Jerseyville, IL, September 1936; he preceded her in death in 1991. She married Robert E. Lee of Kansas in 1992 and he survives. Gayle attended Veedersburg Schools, and had worked in the shipyards at Beaumont, Texas during WWII. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the Red Hat Society, the KIT Club, and was a member of the Sterling Christian Church. Gayle had lived in Wayne, Michigan from 1952 – 1976, but spent most of her life in Fountain County, Indiana. She is survived by her daughter, Carol (John) Brock, Lafayette, IN; a brother, Carl Butts, Veedersburg; three grandchildren, Jonathan (Kelly) Miller, Ann Arbor, Michigan; Aaron Miller and Jacob Miller, both of Lafayette, as well as two great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Mearns and James Butts, and two sisters, Ina France and Shirley Butts. Funeral service will be 11:00 am Thursday July 12, 2012 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Pastor Dave Sims officiating. Visitation will be 4 – 7 pm Wednesday July 11, 2012 at the funeral home, with Order of Eastern Star service beginning at 6:45pm. Burial will be at Rockfield Cemetery near Veedersburg.
