Othel E Howard

Othel E. Howard, 90, of rural Veedersburg, passed away at his residence 1:23pm Wednesday August 22, 2012. Mr. Howard was born December 9, 1921 the son of Walter and Mamie (Hoover) Howard. He married Dorothy Janita Earl January 29, 1951, she preceded him in death in August 2000. Othel had resided on the farm since 1951, it was here he and his wife had raised their family, while he farmed and worked a herd of dairy cattle. Retiring from the dairy cattle in 1983 he had then raised beef cattle. The farm was an occupation and a way of life that Othel thoroughly enjoyed. He graduated from Covington High School in 1939, and had attended Wabash Chapel Church for over 40 years where he taught Sunday school class. Surviving family include a daughter Marsena Howard, Manheim, PA; son Dale (Karen) Howard, Veedersburg; two brothers, Velmar (Sylvia) Howard, Veedersburg; Ron (Carolyn) Howard, Covington; three grandchildren, Matt Howard, Sarah “Katie” Howard & Ashley (Stephen) Key, all of Veedersburg; a great-grandson Hunter Key. He is preceded in death by his wife, two sisters, and two brothers. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Saturday August 25, 2012 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Pastor Daneen Rodriguez officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon Saturday and continue until the time of service. Interment at Mt Hope Cemetery in Covington. Memorial contributions may be given to Wabash Chapel Church.
