Doris Jean Olmstead

Doris Jean Olmstead, 82, of Veedersburg, passed away 6:40 pm Sunday October 14, 2012 at Williamsport Nursing and Rehab. in Williamsport, IN. Mrs. Olmstead was born July 23, 1930 in Wingate, Indiana the daughter of Charles F. and Alta M. (Byers) Clift. She married Robert E. Olmstead August 12, 1950 in Veedersburg. Surviving family include her husband, Robert Olmstead, Veedersburg; a son Jeffrey Robert (Donna) Olmstead, Veedersburg; two brothers, Jack Lee (Ann) Clift, Lake Charles, LA, Don Clift, Sulphur, LA; two sisters, Reba M (Jim) Page, Veedersburg; Patricia Ann (Marion) Watson, Crawfordsville, IN; two grandsons, Chris Dunning, Franklin, IN; Robert Dakota Olmstead, Lawrenceburg, KY; and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki Lynn Dunning, a grandson, Chad Jeffrey Dunning, and a sister, Betty Alice Mitton. Doris graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1948, and was a long-time member of the Sterling Christian Church. Her church family and friends was a very important and appreciated part of her life. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and quilting with the ladies at the Christian Church. Her greatest joy in life came from being with her family, especially Bob her husband of 62 years. Funeral service will be 11:00 am Thursday October 18, 2012 at Sterling Christian Church in Veedersburg with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 – 8:00 pm Wednesday October 17, 2012 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg. Burial will be at Rockfield Cemetery.
