Mary Christine Porcheddu

Mary Christine (Van Devanter) Porcheddu, 87, of Champaign, passed away 8:40am Sunday March 3, 2013 at Illini Heritage Nursing Home in Champaign, IL. She was born on March 4, 1925 in Veedersburg IN the daughter of Grace and Karl Van Devanter . She had three sisters, Faith Seeger , Juliet Dundore, And Virginia Carter. Her parents, 3 sisters, and a son Karl Joseph Porcheddu have preceded her in death. Christine received a degree from Indiana University and was a big IU fan. Christine raised her family in Danville Illinois and later moved to Nashville Indiana, where she was a member of the Brown County Art Gallery, exhibiting oil paintings in the Hoosier Salon, and Indiana Heritage Art Exhibits. She later moved to Fort Myers Florida and painted there until she became ill. She has lived at Illini Heritage Nursing home in Champaign until her death. Christine leaves behind a daughter, Julie Porcheddu of Urbana and a son Fred Porcheddu of Granville Ohio. Along with a niece, Cynthia Elmquist of Minnesota, a nephew Van Carter of South Dakota and many dear friends. Funeral service will be 3:00 pm (EST) Wednesday March 6, 2013 at Dickerson Funeral Home 303 N Main St Veedersburg Indiana with Chaplin Tim Haworth officiating. Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm (EST) Wednesday and continue until the time of service. Burial will be at Rockfield Cemetery near Veedersburg. Memorial contributions can be made to the Champaign County Humane Society in her name.
