Garnett E. "Gene" Wakeland

Garnett E. “Gene” Wakeland, 89, of Veedersburg, passed away at his residence Monday July 22, 2013. He was born January 18, 1924 in Plymouth, IN the son of Manson and Lola (Sigler) Wakeland. Gene was a musician that had traveled and played throughout the United States. He had lived and worked in California for several years. Surviving family include two sons, Brian (Nancy) Wakeland, Avon Park, FL; David (Phyllis) Wakeland, Avon Park, FL; four daughters, Linda Chancey, Avon Park, FL; Debbie Spainhoward, Henderson, KY; Tammy (Todd) Gilham, Symsonia, KY; Darla (Neil) Beck, Hillsboro, IN, and nine grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a sister, Isabelle Spears. Memorial service will be 2:00 PM Thursday July 25, 2013 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with his daughter, Pastor Debbie Spainhoward officiating.
