Marion Cook, 96, of Veedersburg, passed away 6:25 pm Monday March 24, 2014 at St Vincent Hospital in Williamsport, Indiana. Mr. Cook was born July 13, 1917 in Sterling, Indiana the son of Clare and Mary B. (Idle) Cook. He married Indiana “India” Smith January 10, 1951 in Sterling IN. Surviving family include his wife, Indiana Cook, Veedersburg; a sister Mae Osborn, Covington; two special nieces, Holly Frazier and Clara M. Kidwell, both of Veedersburg; several other nieces and nephews; and Marion and Indiana’s special friend Carol Stonebraker. Marion graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1935 and served his country during WWII in the U S Army, stationed in the Aleutian Islands. He was employed for many years at C & D in Attica as a quality control inspector, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Sterling Christian Church, F. & A. M. Lodge #491 and American Legion Post #288, all in Veedersburg; and the Coal Creek Gun Club. Most of all he loved and enjoyed the time he had with his wife. Funeral service will be held 6:00 pm Friday March 28, 2014 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Pastor Amy Artis officiating. Visitation will begin at 4:00 pm Friday and continue until the time of Masonic Service at 5:45pm. Graveside service will be 2:00 pm Saturday March 29, 2014 at New Prospect Cemetery in Hanover, Indiana, with military honors. Memorial contributions may be given to F. & A.M. Lodge 491 in Veedersburg.
