Eugene Kirk Douglas

Eugene Kirk Douglas, 86, of rural Kingman, passed away 4:48 am Saturday April 19, 2014 at St Elizabeth East Hospital in Lafayette Indiana. Mr. Douglas was born September 14, 1927 in Stone Bluff, IN the son of Everett H. and Cecil (Butts) Douglas. He married Louise Rhodenbaugh March 22, 1951. She preceded him in death January 8, 1995. He is also preceded in death by his parents, three sons, five brothers, and three sisters. Surviving family include four daughters, Carol Wolfe (Owen Keeling), Kingman; Linda (Wally) Davis, Kingman; Sandra Zick, Covington; Brenda (Rick) Jones, Indianapolis; two sons, Roger (Gretchen) Douglas, Hillsboro; Steven Douglas, Kingman; two brothers, Gordon (Izetta) Douglas, Veedersburg; Donald Douglas, Veedersburg; eleven grandchildren, twenty six great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Eugene had been employed at Olin/Flexel near Covington for many years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Christian Church in Kingman. He enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, watching wresting & TV westerns, listening to Bluegrass music, visiting with his family and friends, and riding around in his golf cart. Visitation will be 4:00 – 8:00 pm Wednesday April 23, 2014 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg. Funeral service will be 10:00 am Thursday April 24, 2014 at the funeral home, with burial at Osborn Prairie Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
