Evelyn J Kirby

Evelyn J. Kirby, 81, of Veedersburg IN. and formerly of Carmi IL, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday May 6, 2014. Her family was at her side as she went to heaven to join her beloved husband, Glen and son, Greg. Evelyn was born in Brownsville IL on November 5, 1932. Her parents were Raymond L. Martin and Maude O. (Henson) Martin. She was the seventh of nine children born to Raymond and Maude. She was the last living child in her family and is now reunited with her Mom, Dad, and siblings, Madeleon, Lowell, Eleanor, Lynn, Curly, Marilyn, Carolyn, and Jo Ann in heaven. Evelyn married Glen E. Kirby at the First Baptist Church in Carmi IL on November 26, 1950. They had been married for almost 58 years when Glen passed this life in 2008. They had two children, Jo Ann (Kirby) Marshall, and Gregory Glen Kirby. Greg passed this life in 1995, and Jo Ann of Veedersburg survives. Evelyn is also survived by a grandson Michael Glen (Belinda) Marshall, Veedersburg; a granddaughter, Darci Lynn Kirby, Lafayette; and two great-granddaughters, Taylor Ann Marshall and Shelby Nicole Marshall of Veedersburg. She graduated from Norse City High School, and while living in Illinois had been a member of Ditney Ridge Baptist Church in Norse City. Her family was her life and her greatest joy came from being together with them. She was the strongest, sweetest, and least selfish person and will be so greatly missed until the day we are all together again in heaven for eternity. Per Evelyn’s request a graveside service will be held at White County Memorial Gardens, in Carmi IL at 11:00 am (CDT) on Friday May 9, 2014.
