Marjorie Maxine Mears

Marjorie “Marge” Maxine Mears, was called home to her eternal resting place by her Heavenly Father, Wednesday 3:45 AM May 21, 2014 at the Waters of Covington Nursing Home. She had been in failing health following a stroke for many months. She was born March 29, 1925 near Salem, the daughter of the late Lewis and Rena Dismore, and grew up in the Finley Knobs area of Washington Co. in Southern Indiana. Marge graduated in 1943 from Salem High School. She married Ray Snyder Mears on May 18, 1946, and he preceded her in death September 9, 1981. During their married life she was a homemaker, mother of two sons, Jack (Kay) Mears and Alan (Amy) Mears, both of Covington. She also held various jobs outside the home, 22 years at Attica RMC, and as a caregiver to many wonderful elderly friends. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her five brothers, Eslie, Jessie, Francis, Glen, and Frank Dismore. She was a born again Christian and attended the Stringtown Church of God south of Covington. She was an active participant in her church and was always there to lend a hand making food or other projects for her church. Marge was a wonderful cook and received much pleasure in providing great meals for her friends and family. Besides cooking, she loved flowers, traveling, and lots of crocheting, knitting, reading, and especially spending time with her family, and thoroughly enjoyed her grandson, Jason (Keri) Mears, her two great-grandsons, Chase and Collin Mears. She also enjoyed working with and belonging to the Fountain County Genealogy Society. She found a lot of information for a lot of friends and family. She took much happiness in the simple pleasures of life and loved watching birds, butterflies, animals and other joys that nature provided. Marge was a Christian Woman who lived her life as an example of her love for the Lord and her family. She will be remembered as a great mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt to several nieces and nephews, and friend to many wonderful people. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. There will be a gathering of family and friends 4-8 pm Thursday May 22, 2014 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg IN. The home going celebration will commence at 11:00 am Friday May 23, 2014 at the funeral home. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Friday. Rev. Keith Klossner will be officiating. Marge will be laid to rest at Rockfield Cemetery near Veedersburg next to her late husband. Memorial Contributions may be given to the Stringtown Church of God Building Fund 2390 S.
