Gordon L. Douglas, 90, of Veedersburg, passed away 1:30 AM Monday October 27, 2014 at St Vincent Hospital in Williamsport, Indiana. Mr Douglas was born October 28, 1923 in Stone Bluff Indiana the son of Everett H. and Elva Cecil (Butts) Douglas. He married Izetta M. Stonebraker May 25, 1946 in Covington Indiana. Surviving family include his wife, Izetta M. Douglas, Veedersburg; a daughter, Rita (Dick) Oldani, Veedersburg; two sons, Sonny (Jennie) Douglas, Attica; Jeff (Elaine) Douglas, Veedersburg; a brother, Donald Douglas, Veedersburg; five grandchildren, Page Griffin, Missy Card, Angela Oldani, Sam Douglas, Kimberly Douglas; and five great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by seven brothers, and three sisters. Gordon served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII stationed in the European Theater. He was wounded at the Battle of the Bulge for which he received a Purple Heart; he was also presented with a Bronze Star. His memberships include the V.F.W. in Covington and American Legion Post #288 in Veedersburg. He was employed for 41 years at Harrison Steel in Attica. Over the years Gordon enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and his cat. More than anything he loved and enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren. Graveside service will be 2:00 pm Saturday November 1, 2014 at Rockfield Cemetery near Veedersburg, with Pastor Garland Pannell officiating. Military Honors provided by American Legion Post #288. Memorial contributions may be given to (DAV), Disabled American Veterans. Services entrusted to Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg.
