Josephine Elizabeth “Jo” Galloway, 93, of rural Veedersburg, passed away 2:28 pm Sunday January 4, 2015 concluding a brief stay at the Waters of Covington. Mrs. Galloway was born April 24, 1921 in Covington IN the daughter of Courtney & Edna Susan (Weber) Blacketer. She married Earl Leon Galloway December 10, 1938 in Veedersburg. They celebrated 64 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on March 8, 2003. She is also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Blacketer, Courtney “Coonie” Blacketer, two sisters, Vivian McDaniel, Marie Dobbs, two infant sisters, and a grandson Jeffrey Bowman. Surviving family include a son, Donald E. (Judy) Galloway, Covington; three daughters, Carolyn (Paul) Bowman, Covington; Nancy (Henry) Meadows, Covington; Barbara (Henry) Ritter, Veedersburg; a sister, Maralee Benedict, Williamsport; a sister in law, Anna Blacketer, Williamsport; 9 grandchildren, Brian (Lisa) Galloway, Brett (Darla) Galloway, Randy Bowman, Bradd (Pam) Bowman, Christy Wann (Brian Nale), Curt (Angie) Meadows, Doug (Debbie) Meadows, Dennis (Terra) Ritter, Thomas (Courtney) Ritter; several great-grandchildren & great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Jo was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Covington, Troy Township Home Ec. Club, and was a Fountain County 4-H leader for several years. Throughout the years she had enjoyed, quilting, gardening, tending to her flowers, playing cards, and fishing. More than anything she loved and enjoyed her family and always looked forward to having them all together for the holidays. Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Wednesday January 7, 2015 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Pastor Joe Humrichous officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am Wednesday at the funeral home and continue until the time of service. Burial will follow service at Mt Hope Cemetery in Covington.
