Virginia S Dark

Virginia S. Dark, 87, of Veedersburg, passed away 7:55 pm Monday March 23, 2015 at the Waters in Covington IN. Mrs Dark was born March 31, 1927 in Stringtown, Indiana the daughter of Grant and Ruby (Orahood) Shumaker. She attended Rabb Grade School and graduated from Perrysville High School in 1945 as class valedictorian, and was a member of New Century Church near Veedersburg. Virginia was a caring person who always had a kind word for others. She had a deep and abiding faith and a great sense of humor Surviving family include three sons, Joe (Sharon) Dark, Crawfordsville; Jay Alan Dark, Bowling Green KY; Jeff (Merridi) Dark, Williamsport; five daughters, Joyce Cash, Goldsboro NC; Janice (Paul) Ekoniak, Hockessin DE; Jill (Dennis) Holland, Veedersburg; Laura Jane Shutes, Tilton IL; Charla Dark, West Lafayette; and one brother Charles Duane (Nancy) Shumaker, Veedersburg: 22 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; and those that were as dear as family, Scott & Tina Clawson, and Hope Smith. Virginia is preceded in death by two sisters Kathleen Allen, Phyllis Rayphole; two brothers, Robert Shumaker, Lloyd Dean Shumaker; and a granddaughter, Amber Mitton. Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Friday March 27, 2015 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Pastor Joe Dodds officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am Friday and continue until the time of service. Burial will follow service at Kingman Fraternal Cemetery.
