Billy I. Clawson, 89, of Veedersburg, passed away at his residence 1:32 am Tuesday April 14, 2015. Mr. Clawson was born June 21, 1925 in Veedersburg the son of James Alfred and Stella Flo (Sheets) Clawson. He married Lora Helms April 10, 1954 in Sterling, IN. Surviving family include his wife, Lora “Tootie” Clawson, Veedersburg; two daughters, Dawnna Lynn (Mike) Warrick, Covington; Vicki Diane (William) Clauson, Danville IL; a son, Billy Scott (Tina) Clawson, Veedersburg; seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by eight brothers, Albert A., Fredrick J., Glenn E., James N., Robert J., Jerry D., Jacky R., and Leslie D. Clawson. Billy was drafted into the US Army in 1945 and served two years at the conclusion of WWII; he re-enlisted in the Army in 1952 during the Korean War, where he was wounded in action and received a Purple Heart. He was employed for many years on the railroad for the New York Central, Penn Central, and retired from Conrail in 1987. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Covington, IN He had enjoyed his opportunities to travel throughout his lifetime, and most of all he loved and enjoyed his family. Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 pm (EDT) Thursday April 16, 2015 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg. Funeral service will be 12:30 pm (EDT) Friday April 17, 2015 at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Lyons officiating, burial will follow the service at the VA National Cemetery in Danville IL with Military Honors provided by American Legion Post #288.
