Sue Carolyn Dickerson

Sue Carolyn Dickerson, 80, of Veedersburg, passed away at her residence Thursday January 14, 2016. She was born April 30, 1935 in Christian County, Kentucky the daughter of Jesse Monroe & Zellia Rebecca (Gibson) Laffoon. She married Thomas S. Dickerson May 8, 1953 in Shelburn, Indiana. Surviving family include her husband, Tom S. Dickerson, Veedersburg, IN; a son, T. Lindsey Dickerson, Vero Beach, Florida; a grandson, Thomas E. “Ted” (Karina) Dickerson, Hillsboro, IN; a granddaughter, Jessi Ann Marie Dickerson, Hawaii; a great-grandson, Thomas Edward Dickerson; two sisters, Sandra Short, New Palestine, IN; Linda (Don) Miller, Shelburn, IN; four step-granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa L. Dickerson; her parents, four brothers, and two sisters. Sue graduated from Shelburn High School in 1953. She was a member of the Veedersburg United Methodist Church, where over the years she had been very active as a Sunday School Teacher, Youth Group Leader, and with the United Methodist Women. Sue and Tom moved to Veedersburg in 1973, when they opened Dickerson Funeral Home. Sue was very active working alongside Tom in their business for many years. She had also worked at the Veedersburg State Bank, Dale Ratcliff’s accounting office, Veedersburg Co-op, and the clerk’s office at the Fountain County Courthouse. Sue had a keen interest in politics both at the local and national level. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Monday January 18, 2016 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Pastor Frank Sablan officiating. Visitation will be 3:00 – 7:00 PM Sunday January 17, 2016 at the funeral home. Interment will follow service at Rockfield Cemetery near Veedersburg.
