Jerry L Grady

Jerry L. Grady, 76, of Covington, passed away 12:15 PM Monday March 14, 2016 at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born June 26, 1939 in Danville, Illinois the son of Gerald & Helen (Allen) Grady. He married Susan Clark in Veedersburg Indiana. Surviving family include his wife, Susan Grady, Covington; daughter, Jennifer Grady, Veedersburg; step-daughter, Debbie (Thomas) Cotten, Greencastle; two sisters, Linda (Ronald) Thomas, Lafayette; Jane Kenner, Covington; a brother, Allen “Buz” (Carol) Grady, Lafayette; two grandsons, Tom Cotten Jr. & Tim Cotten; and five great-grandchildren. Jerry graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1959, and served his country in the US Army 1962 – 1964. He had been employed at Olin / Flexel for many years; and had driven a truck for McClain’s in Danville and Flex N Gate near Covington prior to his retirement. He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Covington, 45 year member of American Legion Post #288, and a 50 year member of F. & A.M. Lodge #491 both of Veedersburg. Jerry enjoyed being outside taking care of his yard and garden, and was very particular about detailing and cleaning his car. He also enjoyed visiting with his friends at the local coffee shop. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Saturday March 19, 2016 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Pastor Bill Cook officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 – 8:00 pm Friday March 18, 2016 at the funeral home with Masonic service beginning at 7:45 pm. Burial will follow funeral service at Bonebrake Cemetery near Veedersburg with Military Honors provided by American Legion Post #288. Memorial Contributions may be given to American Legion Post #288.
