Nancy J Baker

Nancy J. Baker, 67, of Veedersburg, passed away at her residence Tuesday morning August 9, 2016. Nancy was born July 24, 1949 in Danville, IL the daughter of George Edward and Hester Jean (Murdock) Newnum. She married Robert J. Baker December 26, 1975 in Mattoon, IL. Surviving family include her husband, Robert J. Baker, Veedersburg; granddaughter, Meagan N. Baker, Lafayette; daughter-in-law, Anna Baker, Advance IN; sister, Vivian (Orville) Brook, Athens, AL; brothers, Roger (Judi) Newnum, Murfreesboro, TN; David (Carol) Newnum, Cumberland Furnace, TN; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, and a son Dario J. Baker. Nancy attended Kingman schools prior to consolidation and graduated from Fountain Central High School in 1967. She had been employed as a clerical secretary all her life, beginning at Kingman Schools then Southeast Fountain Elementary 1972-1982, executive secretary to the Fountain Central Superintendent 1982-1992, she had then worked at SEF Elementary for two years and retired from the Fountain County Treasurers office after five years employment. She was a member of Community Bible Baptist Church near Veedersburg. Nancy’s greatest enjoyment in life came from her family; she especially loved and was very proud of her granddaughter, Meagan. Memorial service will be 1:00 PM Saturday August 13, 2016 at Community Bible Baptist Church 714 East Division Road Veedersburg IN, with Pastor James Furr officiating. Visitation will begin 10:30 AM Saturday at the church and continue until the time of service. Rather than sending flowers; the family would appreciate memorial contributions be given to Community Bible Baptist Church or Meagan Baker College Fund, payable to Robert Baker.
