Joyce Leona Stephens

Joyce Leona Stephens, 84, of Veedersburg, passed away 3:45 PM Saturday September 17, 2016 at St Vincent Hospital in Williamsport, Indiana. Joyce was born June 15, 1932 in New Castle, IN the daughter of Herman and Lottie (Fosnight) Lykins. She married Leon Stephens July 2, 1955 in New Castle IN. Surviving family include her husband Leon Stephens, Veedersburg; two sons, Calvin (Jackie) Stephens, Veedersburg; Jimmy (Marie) Stephens, Monticello IN; three granddaughters, Heather (John) Palmer, Stacy (Shawn) Felix, Meagan (Rusty) Marshall; three grandsons, Kyle (Ashlynn) Stephens, Nathan Stephens, Brian White; seven great-grandchildren, Cassidy Abernathy, Max Palmer, Blythe Palmer, Braelynn Stephens, Jocelynn Stephens, Deacon Felix, and Mollie Felix. She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister, and two infant daughters. Joyce was a member of the New Century Christian Church near Veedersburg. She had lived her life as a homemaker and had enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and being with her family. She especially loved and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her spare time she had also enjoyed fishing, mushrooming, and listening to Bluegrass music. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Wednesday September 21, 2016 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Pastor Joe Dodds officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday September 20, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will follow service at Rockfield Cemetery near Veedersburg.
