Ruth E Staggs

Ruth E Staggs, 83, of Steam Corner area south of Veedersburg, passed away 6:40 AM Sunday October 2, 2016 at St Elizabeth East Hospital in Lafayette Indiana. Ruth was born April 26, 1933 in Jasper, Alabama; the daughter of Edward and Lois (Vanconis) Elmore. She married Donald L. Staggs December 17, 1960 in St Ignace, Michigan. Surviving family include her husband, Donald L. Staggs, Veedersburg; four sons and two daughters, Gary (Vickie) Barnett, Vincent , AL; Bobby (Dale) Brewer, Jasper, AL; Mike Barnett, Tarpon Springs, FL; Ken Barnett, SC; Missy Staggs, Veedersburg; Jeff (Annie) Staggs, Veedersburg; two step-daughters, Janet and Peggy; two brothers, Bill (Edith) Elmore and Ralph (Becky) Elmore, both of Michigan; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a son, Donnie Staggs; and a step-daughter, Mary Sue. Ruth graduated high school in Pawpaw, Michigan. She was a member of the Scott’s Prairie Christian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She had enjoyed collecting antiques and managing the Steam Corner Flea Market for over 40 years with her husband Don. She enjoyed being with her family, playing cards and bingo, and traveling throughout the west. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Wednesday October 5, 2016 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM Wednesday and continue until the time of the Eastern Star service at 12:50 PM. Burial will follow service at Wolf Creek Cemetery near Wallace.
