Thelma F. Holt 87, of Veedersburg, died 12:54 pm Wednesday October 21, 2009 at The Waters of Covington. Mrs. Holt was born January 28, 1922 in Williamsport, Indiana the daughter of William and Ethel (Bird) Denton. She married Glen Holt December 26, 1941 in St, Louis, Missouri. Glen preceded her in death in 2002. Surviving family includes two sons, Tom Holt (wife, Linda), Covington; and William Holt (wife Joyce), Sequim, WA; one daughter, Peggy Mapes (husband Roger), Connersville, IN; a niece Donna Sue Peck (husband, Bill), Dubuque, Iowa; six grandchildren, Stephen Holt, Lisa Holt, Tracy Moore, Cindy Conner, Gregory Mapes, and Amanda Mapes, thirteen great-grandchildren, and two step great-grandchildren. Thelma graduated from Hoopeston High School in 1940 and attended Utterback Brown Business College. She was a member of the Veedersburg United Methodist Church, past president and secretary of Oaklawn Elementary School PTA, Alpha Mu Music Club, charter member PSI-OATA, and Van Buren Home Ec. Club. She enjoyed traveling, hiking, crafts, and Bible studies. Most of all she enjoyed her family and grandchildren. Her employment included secretary at Interstate Printing, Librarian at Veedersburg High School, and teacher’s aide at Southeast Fountain Elementary, retiring from there in 1978. Funeral service will be 11:00 am Saturday October 24, 2009 at United Methodist Church in Veedersburg with Pastor Matt Swisher officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 pm Friday October 23, 2009 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the Veedersburg United Methodist Church.
