Betty J. Berlin

August 11, 1942 — November 3, 2009

Betty J. (Ridge) Berlin, 67, of Veedersburg, passed away 9:35 pm Tuesday November 3, 2009 at St. Vincent Hospital in Williamsport, Indiana. She was born August 11, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Clyde A. and Betty L. (Barker) Ridge. They have preceded her in death. She married Jack Berlin September 25, 1959 at the First Baptist Church in Waynetown. They celebrated fifty years of marriage this year with an open house in their honor. Surviving family includes her husband, Jack Berlin, Veedersburg; two daughters, Gina Miller, Crawfordsville; and Jackie Dixon (husband, Bruce), Covington; twin sister Beverly Blackford, Crawfordsville; sisters, Carol Edwards (husband, Bill) Waynetown; Nancy Pierce (husband Steve) Waynetown; Linda Miller, Crawfordsville; brother Clyde A. “Butch” Ridge (wife, Linda) Waynetown; five grandchildren, Alonna Hunt, Tyler Murdock, Kali Dixon, twins Lexi Dixon and Logan Dixon.. Betty attended Waynetown High School as part of the class of 1959, and went on to attend Danville Area Community College and Danville School of Cosmetology where she earned her degree as a licensed cosmetologist. She was a hairdresser, owning & operating BB’s Boutique in Veedersburg for 30 years. She also worked for Wal-Mart Optical Lab for eleven years retiring from there in May 2009. Betty loved to travel with her husband Jack, including the group bus trips with their friends. She especially enjoyed visiting the casinos on their travels. Most of all Betty loved and enjoyed her family and grandchildren. She was very fond of playing various board and card games with family and friends. She was very well known for her sense of humor and sharing a good story. Usually, the story would be about herself or a loved one, or just an amusing antidote. Anytime you stopped to visit her you would always find her faithful dog Patsy sitting on her lap napping. Betty never knew a stranger and was a friend to everyone she met. She will be sadly missed by everyone that was ever lucky enough to know her. She would light up a room just by her laughter and smile. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Saturday November 7, 2009 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Pastor Steve Whicker officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 – 8:00 pm Friday November 6, 2009 at the funeral home. Interment at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Online condolences at www..dickersonfuneralhome.com
