Vonnie Russell

Vonnie Russell Jr. 76, of rural Kingman passed away 7:11 AM Saturday December 26, 2009. Vonnie was born October 10, 1933 in West Frankfort, Illinois the son of Vonnie and Louise (Yoger) Russell. He married Shirley J. Gosnell June 18, 1956 in West Frankfort, Illinois. Surviving family include his wife, Shirley Russell, Kingman; a son Jeffrey Lee Russell Sr., Attica, two grandchildren, Jeffrey Lee Russell Jr., Attica; and Hanley Elise Russell, Cedar Lake, Indiana; one sister Bertha Dziadus, West Frankfort, Illinois. He is preceded in death by a son Kevin Russell, one brother and one sister. He graduated from West Frankfort High School in 1953, and served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was employed 43 years as a millwright for U.S. Steel in Gary Indiana until his retirement in 1995. Vonnie and Shirley moved to the Lake Hideaway area after his retirement. He enjoyed fishing and traveling with his wife. Funeral service will be 11:00 Am Wednesday December 30, 2009 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Pastor Kenneth Majors officiating.
