Esther J. “Eppy” Douglas, 78, of Veedersburg, passed away at her residence 3:33 PM Sunday May 9, 2010. She was born February 5, 1932 in Cates, IN the daughter of Joseph A. and Mary V. (Keller) Grimes. She married Donald L. Douglas in November 1968 in Williamsport, IN. He survives. Surviving family also include five sons, Kenneth Hayman, Veedersburg; Mike (Michelle) Hayman, Covington; Donald (Rhonda) Douglas Jr., Veedersburg; William Douglas, Lafayette; David L. (Hallie McCormick) Douglas, Tillamook, OR; four daughters, Mary (Brendan) Johnston, Attica; Lucinda (James) Kimberling, Kingman; Retta (David) Howard, Covington; Ruth (John Ferguson) Marquess, Veedersburg; a sister, Madelyne “Maddy” (Carl) Neef, Veedersburg; numerous grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a son James Douglas, brother, Lloyd Grimes, and two grandchildren, Gracie Janae Marquess & Kenneth David Hayman. Esther graduated from High School in Tillamook, Oregon. She had a great love for her Lord Jesus Christ. Throughout her life she cared deeply for Native Americans and sent them many gifts. She loved to crochet, paint pictures, and wood carving. She had worked for Marshall Studios in Veedersburg for several years. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday May 12, 2010 at Veedersburg Church of God with Pastor Scott Simms officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday May 11, 2010 at Veedersburg Church of God. Interment at Union Christian Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to help with funeral expense.
