Pearl M. (Strawser) Elliot

Pearl M. (Strawser) Elliot, age 103 of Covington, died at 7:20 p.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at the Waters of Covington. Pearl was born on July 11, 1907 in Foster, IN. She was the daughter of James and Amanda (Sanders) Strawser. She was a graduate of Covington High School. In 1924 she married Russell Elliot in Covington. He preceded her in death on May 7, 1962. Pearl worked for Lakeview Medical Center in Danville, IL in the outpatient department, retiring in 1976. She was a member of the Benson Chapel United Methodist Church. She loved people and always had a positive outlook on life. Pearl like to joke and cut up and always told her friends she loved them. Surviving are, 1 son, William “Bill” Elliot (wife: Jayne) of rural Covington; 1 grandson, Barry R. Elliot of rural Covington; 2 great-grandchildren, Laura Jayne Elliot of rural Covington and Bradley Fares of Tilton, IL; and 1 great-great-granddaughter, Natalie Fares of Tilton, IL. Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, 4 brothers, Alva Strawser, Jesse Strawser, Earl Strawser, and Louis Strawser, and 2 sisters, Mabel Gouty and Emma Dixon. Visitation will be at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 from noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. with Paul Kent officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Covington. Memorial donations may be made to the Benson Chapel United Methodist Church of the Covington Senior Center.
