Thomas W. “Tommy” Golia, 65, of Kingman, died 6:56 pm Tuesday September 28, 2010 at St Vincent Hospital in Williamsport, Indiana. He was born December 7, 1944 in New York City, New York the son of Thomas A. and Helen G. (Balz) Golia. He married Mary M. “Maureen” Parke September 14, 1968 in Queens, New York. She preceded him in death January 5, 2008. He is also preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Emily Martin and brother-in-law, Michael Parke. Surviving family includes a daughter, Laurie (Ira) Martin, Kingman; two sons, T.J. (Angie) Golia, Veedersburg; Richard Golia, Kingman; mother-in-law, Mary E. Parke, Terre Haute; brother-in-law, Joseph (Bridget) Parke, Rockville; four sister-in-laws, Patricia (Peter) Albrechtsen, Queens, NY; Kathleen (Sam) Melio, Staten Island, NY; Karen Parke, Terre Haute; Kelley (Robert) Howard, Middlesex, NJ; seven grandchildren, Cole Martin, Haley Martin, Lexie Martin, Andrew Golia, Madilyn Golia, Collin Strange, Chloe Krout, several nieces and nephews, and his dog Willie. Thomas served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was employed as a maintenance supervisor at Freight Car Services in Danville, IL for 33 years, retiring in 2006. He was a gunsmith and enjoyed both refinishing and working on guns. His hobbies also included antique cars and trains. He especially enjoyed his last three summers at Sugar Mill Lake sitting on his front porch watching the many golf carts, and spending time with his grandchildren. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Saturday October 2, 2010 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Pastor Bill Nickle officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon on Saturday and continue until the time of service. Interment at Kingman Fraternal Cemetery.
