Bill Rager, age 87, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at his home in Cadiz.
He was born in Drakesboro, Kentucky, in Muhlenberg County, on November 9, 1938, to the late Edgar Atlas and Tillie Marie (Boggess) Rager.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Carolyn Janette "Jan" Rager, who passed on December 29, 2020. His brother, Edgar Rager, and sister, Margie Mayes, and a grandchild also predeceased him.
Bill was a self-employed businessman, owning a successful machine tool and die shop for many years. He also owned a bowling alley and a card room. He had a great entrepreneurial spirit and a "can-do" attitude in all of his ventures.
Bill loved the great outdoors and exploring new places with his wife Jan. He found immense joy in fishing and hunting. His regular fishing trips to the pristine waters of Alaska were among his favorite adventures. He also loved his faithful dog, Benny, who was always by his side.
He is survived by his children, Curtis Gene Rager (Erin) and Tammy Lou Fourt, both of Modesto, California, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson.
Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, 138 Main Street in Cadiz, where the family will receive friends on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM CDT.
Graveside service, conducted by Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg, Indiana, will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 12:00 PM EDT, at Centennial Cemetery, 465 E 800 S, Kingman, Indiana, where Bill will be laid to rest with his wife Jan.
