Douglas Grant “Doug” Abbott, 67, of Crawfordsville, IN, passed away at his residence at 8:17 PM on Friday August 17, 2023.
Doug was born November 8, 1955 in Rochester NY the son of John and Elsie (Macann) Abbott; they have preceded him in death. He married LeAnn Griffin January 14, 1982 in Las Vegas NV.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his grandson Jacob Douglas; sister-in-law, Judy Gayler; and brother-in-law, Dick Griffin.
Surviving family include his wife, LeAnn Griffin Abbott, Crawfordsville; two daughters, Daisy Jayne Abbott Douglas; and Leiah Suzanne Abbott Snyder; two grandsons Gabriel Douglas and Nash Abbott; two brothers, Don (Marie) Abbott Enumclaw, WA; Dan (Kandi) Abbott, NY; a sister, Dale (Chris) Christopherson, Poulsbo, WA; and a brother-in-law, Scott (Melissa) Griffin, Veedersburg, IN; and many friends, nieces, and nephews.
Doug was a well loved man; he was a hard worker and loved his family and music. He was an incredible musician and passed that passion on to his grandson Gabriel. He loved to travel, and loved adventure, which he also enjoyed sharing with his family.
He graduated from Irondequoit High School near Rochester NY, and attended college in San Joaquin CA. He was employed for many years at Eli Lilly in Lafayette as a chemical engineer prior to his retirement in 2019 for health reasons.
He will be missed by so many people. He was loved by family and friend from the East Coast to the West Coast. If Doug could capture his feelings for his family and friends it would be “In My Life, I’ve Loved You More.”
A Celebration of Doug’s Life will be held 2:00 - 8:00 PM Saturday September 2, 2023 at the Scout Cabin in Veedersburg, Indiana.
