Eleanor Lee Mitchell

Eleanor Lee Mitchell, 83, of Crawfordsville formerly of Veedersburg, passed away 11:32 PM Tuesday December 27, 2022 at Franciscan Health in Crawfordsville, IN.

Eleanor was born September 23, 1939 in Hillsboro IN the daughter of Clarence Minnick and Mae (Henson) Minnick Keller. She married Forrest Richard Mitchell in April 1958; he preceded her in death on July 14, 1998.

Surviving family include two sons, Mark S Mitchell, Crawfordsville; Tracy D. (Suzette) Mitchell, Veedersburg; two daughters, Teresa J. Wall, Beech Grove; Hope R. (Tony) Smith, Linden; a brother, Bob E (Marilyn) Minnick, Waynetown; six grandchildren, Josylnn (Javier) Jimenez, Ashley Pender, Shane (Shannon) Helgers, Lynn (Kayli) Smith, Andrew Burgner, Ashley Burgner;  eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

She is preceded in death by a brother, Bill Minnick; and a sister, Barbara Harvey.

Eleanor graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1957; she was both Valedictorian and Class President. Throughout her life she had been employed at the Ben Franklin Store in Veedersburg, RR Donnelly, RMC in Attica; Avon Saleslady; Hills Department Store in Lafayette; and most recently employed at Walmart in Crawfordsville for 20 years prior to her retirement.

Eleanor was a member of Trinity Methodist Church in Crawfordsville. She will be remembered by her family for the incredible devotion she had to each of them. She traveled many miles and spent much of her time attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, enjoying every minute of it. She was also very insistent in encouraging her family to attend reunions and get-togethers.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday January 3, 2023 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg. Visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon Tuesday January 3, and continue until the time of service at 2:00. Burial will be at Rockfield Cemetery near Veedersburg.
