Francis Arthur “Jack” Hayden Jr.

Francis Arthur “Jack” Hayden Jr. 82, of Covington, IN, passed away 2:42 PM Wednesday January 10, 2024 at the Indiana Soldiers Home in West Lafayette, IN.

Jack was born March 5, 1941 in New Albany, IN the son of Francis Arthur and Martha Ellen (Barnett) Hayden. They have preceded him in death. 

He is also preceded in death by a sister, Janice Olson; and a brother, David Hayden Sr.

Jack served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam Era; which is when he met Marcia Schnelle in California. They were married June 1, 1965 in California and were blessed with two children. 

Surviving family include a son Francis “Jack” (Cecilia) Hayden III, Bradley IL; a daughter, M. Suzette (Tracy Mitchell) Burgner, Veedersburg IN; a brother Marvin Hayden, Veedersburg; a sister, Ruth Burroughs, Brownsburg, IN; five grandchildren, Brianna Haug, Andrew Burgner, Arianna Hayden, Ashley Burgner, Aubree Hayden; two great-grandchildren, Harrison Haug, and Desmond LaGesse

Jack attended most all of his school years in Covington, and graduated from Danville High School in 1959. He was employed at Danville VA Health Care for over 30 years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed spending time at the Courthouse Café in Covington visiting with his friends. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting mushrooms in his highly guarded secret spots; he was even known to wander off during working hours searching for mushrooms in the spring.

He was a member of the First Assembly of God in Covington. He enjoyed ministry for his Lord, and was very bold about witnessing and sharing his faith with others. 

Funeral service will be 4:00 PM (EST) Tuesday January 16, 2024 at First Assembly of God 421 Market Street Covington IN 47932 with Pastor Bob Fairchild officiating. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM (EST) at the church and continue until the time of service at 4:00. Memorial Contributions may be given to the First Assembly of God.
