Harold Leon "Bud" Merryman

Harold Leon “Bud” Merryman, 87, of Veedersburg, passed away 3:06 PM Thursday December 10, 2020 at IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, Indiana.

Bud was born September 20, 1933 in Cates Indiana the son of Benjamin and Mary (Snoddy) Merryman. He married Verla I. “Peggy” O’Neal August 10, 1956 in Kingman, Indiana.

Surviving family include his wife, Peggy Merryman, Veedersburg IN;  a daughter, Christie Ann (Donovan) Badillo, Fort Wayne, IN; two sons, Kevin (Kelly) Merryman, Veedersburg IN; Jason (Angela) Merryman, Cheyenne WY; eleven grandchildren, Joshua Smith, Jessica Smith, Trevor Jeffries, Dustyn Badillo, Angel Merryman, Chaz Armstrong, Mercedes Merryman, Trystan Merryman, Anthony Wouster, Skylar Merryman, Carter Merryman;  eleven great-grandchildren, and one more great-granddaughter due anytime.  

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Roy Merryman, Rudy Merryman; and a sister, Martha Staggs.

Bud, or as he was known in school, Leon graduated from Kingman High School in 1951. He was employed for 45 years at RR Donnelly in Crawfordsville IN, retiring in 1996. He was a member of New Century Church near Veedersburg.

Bud loved being outdoors working in the yard on his tractor. He enjoyed fishing and bowling. He was a basketball referee for several years; he enjoyed watching football with his favorite teams being the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears.

Visitation will be 4:00 – 7:00 PM Tuesday December 15, 2020 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg IN. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday December 16, 2020 at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Mt Hope Cemetery in Covington. Memorial contributions may be given to Fountain Central High School Athletics.
