Howard Mason Kunkle

Howard Mason Kunkle, 88, of Veedersburg, passed away 6:44 AM Wednesday August 14, 2019 at the Williamsport IN Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Howard was born June 18, 1931 in Newport IN the son of Clarence Earl and Mary Madelyn (Wilfong) Kunkle. He married Mildred Maxine Wrightsman December 6, 1953.

Surviving family include his wife, Mildred Kunkle, Veedersburg; two daughters, Terry (Linn) Allen, Veedersburg; Trudy (James) Hook, Lexington SC; two sons, Aaron (Suzi) Kunkle, Indianapolis;  Alex (Donna) Kunkle, Danville IN; a sister, Joan (Sam) Ellis, Dana IN;  a brother Clarence Earl Jr. (Lee Ann) Kunkle Plainfield IN; nine grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.

Howard graduated from Bloomingdale High School in 1949. After high school he served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the period of the Korean War. He was employed at Olin/Flexel for many years near Covington, retiring from there in 1993. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Veedersburg, where he had enjoyed attending church services and visiting with the people.  His hobbies included playing golf and a good game of euchre.  His greatest enjoyment in life came from being with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Saturday August 17, 2019 at First Christian Church 301 N Mill St Veedersburg IN with Pastor Garland Pannell officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 – 7:00 PM Friday August 16, 2019 at First Christian Church. Burial will be at Memory Garden Cemetery in Rockville IN with military honors provided by American Legion Post #288 and the U.S. Air Force.  Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
