Janet Minnick Myers

May 7, 1936 — March 10, 2026

Covington

Janet Minnick Myers, 89, went to be with Jesus her Savior on Tuesday morning, March 10, 2026 at Fountain Springs in Covington, Indiana. Janet was born on May 7, 1936 in Williamsport, Indiana, to Lowell and Ethel Minnick. She grew up with two sisters, Betty and Rosie, and one brother, OK. She graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1954 and went to Indiana State University. She worked at Olin and part-time for the Fountain County Recorder’s Office, but her most loved job was staying home with her children and keeping their home.

She married Charles (Ed) Myers on February 23, 1957, and they enjoyed 60 years of marriage before he was called home to heaven in 2017. They were blessed with four children: Sandy (Greg) Myers of Covington, Daniel Myers of Covington, Mike “Kirby” (Sally) Myers of Orlando, Jennifer (Brad) Murray of Brownsburg, and one baby in heaven. Janet was fondly called “grandma” by one granddaughter: Carissa (Fred) Booe, and eight grandsons: Jonathan, Matthew, and Andre Myers; as well as Henry, Brooks, Clark, Isaac, and Hudson Murray; and one great grandson Bentley Booe.

Janet was happiest when surrounded by her family. She enjoyed family dinners, holidays, concerts, and attending church together. She was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church in Tilton, Illinois, and after her husband passed became a member at Covington First Baptist. Janet was a faithful friend and constant encourager to many. She loved listening to music and singing in a trio and the choir. She especially loved listening to family members sing. She loved creating memories and capturing them with photos. She claimed her Bible and her photo albums as her most prized possessions.

Janet trusted Christ as her Savior in her twenties and lived her life for Him. She faithfully attended church, participated in many Bible studies, taught junior high girls Sunday School, and served on the Missions Committee. She faithfully prayed for others and served with joy. One of her favorite verses was 2 Corinthians 5:8-9, “Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please Him.”

Janet was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ed; her parents, sisters, and brother.

Visitation will be held at Covington First Baptist Church on Friday, March 13th from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Immediately following the visitation will be a service to celebrate and honor her life, beginning at 12:00pm. Pastor Andy Harkleroad and her son, Mike “Kirby” Myers will officiate. Graveside services will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her memory can be made to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes or the Covington Community Foundation.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the staff at Fountain Springs and Southern Care Hospice, who have served and honored Janet’s life. We are also grateful for friends and family who continued to love her well during this season of her life.
