Richard “Rich” Rennick Sr. 89, of Covington, IN, passed away 10:50 AM Monday July 1, 2024 at IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, IN.
Rich was born on the farm near Covington, IN on April 14, 1935; the son of the late Lee and Kathryn (Bodine) Rennick. He married Joan L. Roark June 2, 1952 in Danville, IL; she preceded him in death December 21, 2017. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Holmes.
Surviving family include a son, Richard L. Rennick Jr., Covington, IN; daughter, Nancy (Kerry) Rowand, Greenwood, IN; son, Thomas E. (Debi) Rennick, Covington, IN, a brother, Roger (Rita) Rennick, Covington, IN; grandchildren; Alison (Chris) Fetsch, Baltimore, MD, Deanna (Scott) Rice, Greenwood, IN, Leann (Brandon) Hock, Greenwood, IN, Aubrey (Gavin) Kihlstrand, Covington, IN and Hadley (Skyler) Gibbs, Perrysville, IN, great-grandchildren; Ethan, Cameron and Noel Fetsch; Ash and Jackson Rice; Tyler Wilson, Kinsley Hock, Hunter Hock, and Royer Kihlstrand.
Rich attended school in Covington, and was a member of Sterling Christian Church in Veedersburg. He served his community for many years as a member of the Covington Community School Board and as a Fountain County Commissioner.
He was a lifelong farmer, and truly loved being in the fields. Throughout his life he had farmed in Vermilion County IL; and many counties in Indiana, including Fountain, Warren, Parke, Tippecanoe, Putnam, and Vermillion.
The family will have a Celebration of Rich’s Life, Saturday July 27, 2024 in the Oak Room at the Beef House from 1:00PM to 5:00PM (EDT). Memorial Contributions may be given to Covington Community Foundation PO Box 175 Covington IN 47932. Online condolences at www.dickersonfuneralhome.com
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Barb Huffer, for being such a special friend to Rich these past six years, and for the companionship, care, and comfort she had given to him.
