Robert Q Oswalt

Robert Q. Oswalt, 92, of Veedersburg IN and formerly of the New Market area, passed away at his residence 12:40 PM Friday March 22, 2019.

Mr. Oswalt was born March 18, 1927 in Ladoga, IN the son of Vern V. and Bessie M. (Simpson) Oswalt. He married his wife of 69 years Mary Lou McDonald October 2, 1947 in Ladoga, IN; she has preceded him in death.

He is also preceded in death by two great-granddaughters, Molly Larson and Jaylee Stone; a half-brother Lowell Simpson; a brother, Ralph Oswalt; and a sister, Maxine Wheeler.

Surviving family include two daughters, Leslie (James) Wagner, Muncie IN; Donna (Rich) Douglas, Veedersburg IN; a son, Rick (Terri) Oswalt, Mooresville IN; ten grandchildren, Brad Wagner, Melanie Bowling, Ryan Wagner, Krista Webb, Kari Bowers, Emily Stone, Alyssa Larson, Paige Kays, Taylor Helton, Olivia Oswalt; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Robert had served his country in the US Navy as WWII was ending. He was stationed in Pearl Harbor after the bombing. After being honorably discharged from the Navy he had worked eight years as a delivery man for Meadow Gold; he then went to work at RR Donnelly’s in Crawfordsville until his retirement in 1987.

He was a member of the Browns Valley Christian Church and had been attending the Sterling Christian Church since moving to Veedersburg. He enjoyed gardening, music, and sports. He was an avid fan of the Indiana Pacers. More than anything he loved and enjoyed being with his children and their families. 

Visitation will be 11:00AM to 1:00PM Saturday March 30, 2019 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg. A Celebration of  Life Service will begin at 1:00PM Saturday March 30, 2019 at Dickerson Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Johnson and Pastor Dave Bock officiating, with military honors provided by American Legion Post#288. Burial will be at a later time at Indian Creek Cemetery near Browns Valley. Memorial contributions may be given to Sterling Christian Church. Online condolences atwww.dickersonfuneralhome.com
