Robert O. Williams

Robert O. Williams, longtime Covington attorney and former prosecuting attorney, passed away Monday, December 26, 2022 after a short illness at the age of 87

Robert O as he was known to his friends, was a third generation attorney, born while his father was a law student. His parents, Ward and Penelope Williams preceded him in death as did his sister, Susan Williams and his brother, Michael Williams.

Surviving him are his wife of 42 years, Linda G. Soloman Williams, his children, Marshall J. (Ann) Williams, Molly Williams (Luis Diaz) and Brett (Jill) Gildersleeve, his grandchildren, Marshall A. Williams, Cassidy Williams, Jake (Myra) Gildersleeve, Chance Gildersleeve and Carla Gildersleeve, and his great grandson, Rush Gildersleeve, also nephews, Ward Williams and Robert D. Williams and niece, Amy Williams, and their children.

He was a graduate of Florida State University where he was a varsity basketball player and IU School of Law, Bloomington.  

He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed auto racing, college basketball, and football.

Per his wishes, cremation was accorded and there will be no funeral services.  A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
