Roberta “Birdie” Leah Hinote

Roberta Leah “Birdie” Hinote, 85 of Veedersburg IN, passed away at her residence Monday morning August 28, 2023.

Birdie was born August 31, 1937 in Danville, IL the daughter of Wilbur and Thelma (Cole) Roderick. She married Edward Theo Hinote Jr. November 30, 1957; he preceded her in death in 1979.

She is also preceded in death by her son, Mark Edward Hinote, a sister, Patsy Roderick; brothers, James Roderick, Charles Roderick, Gary Roderick; and her twin brother Robert Roderick.

Surviving family include two daughters, Christina Sullivan, Crawfordsville; Tammie Hinote, Veedersburg; a son Michael Hinote, Veedersburg; a brother Harold (Kay) Roderick, Clinton IN; four grandchildren, Jack Sullivan, Erin (Jeremy) Allen, Cory (Anna Mendoza) Hughes, Traci (Shaun) Smith; several great-grandchildren; and her Brindle Pomeranian “Sammy” whom she loved and spoiled very much.

Birdie graduated from Newport High School in 1956. She was always busy and was never one to set idly around the house.  Throughout her life she had been employed at the Food Basket Deli for many years; General Electric in Danville for 27 years, Wal-Mart Optical Lab in Crawfordsville for over 20 years, and 13 years at the Apple Tree Restaurant in Veedersburg. For many of these years she had worked at two of these jobs simultaneously.

She never had the free time to devote to hobbies, but she did enjoy going out to eat with her family; and she absolutely enjoyed shopping, especially for new clothes.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Thursday August 31, 2023 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg IN with Pastor Virgil Moss officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon Thursday and continue until the time of service. Burial will be at Bonebrake Cemetery near Veedersburg.
