Ronald D. Garrison

Ronald D. Garrison, 76, of Veedersburg, IN, passed away peacefully at Franciscan Hospital in Greenwood surrounded by his family on September 18, 2026, after a short battle with cancer. As a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend he lived a life rooted in his Christian faith.

He was born in Cheneyville, IL on March 17, 1950, to the late John Homer and Mary Jane (Calvert) Garrison. He graduated from Rossville High School in 1968, served as an Army Medic in Vietnam, and later graduated from Indiana State University with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing.

He is survived by his wife, the love of his life, of 54 years, Donna Jean Garrison; two daughters Cynthia (Douglas) King, Katherine (Paul) Davis; two sons Michael (Maria) Garrison, and Daniel (Adrienne) Garrison; eleven grandchildren Alexandria and Annalisa King, Elijah and Cameron Davis, David, Amelia, Ezra, and Nora Garrison, Penelope, Theodore, and Samuel Garrison. He is also survived by three brothers, Homer (Jeanette) Garrison, James Garrison, Johnny (Kristy) Garrison, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Homer and Mary Jane Garrison; three brothers, Charles Garrison, Tom Garrison, and Donald Garrison; and three sisters, Bertha Obenland, Betty Wells, and Mary Bolin. 

He dedicated over 30 years as a nurse working at the VA in Danville, IL and later at the Waters Nursing home in Covington, IN. He lived a life of service and was always concerned about the well being of others. He was an active member, Sunday school teacher, and Elder at New Century Church in Veedersburg, IN. He was dedicated to spreading the love of the Lord to others. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening, and coin collecting. His most cherished treasures were his grandchildren where you could find him cheering them on in every activity they were involved in.

The memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Dickerson Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Ted Wallace. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m., until the time of service. Burial will follow at Osborn Prairie Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Riley Children's Hospital or St Jude Children's research hospital in Ronald's honor.
