Ronna Lea Sandlin, 88, of Mellott IN, passed away on March 17th, 2026 in Lafayette, IN. She was born in Stone Bluff to Earl and Sylvia (Martin) Cox on August 16th 1937. She married Percie Odell Sandlin Sr., in August of 1957 and they were married 68 years.

Ronna Lea was formerly a seamstress at Steel Grip in Covington, Indiana, but was primarily a mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She deeply loved all of her children and family. She especially loved sitting in her kitchen enjoying her black Folgers coffee, reading her books, playing Yatzee or Solitare and cooking for her family. Nothing made her happier than having her family gather around her kitchen table and drink coffee, or share a meal and memories.  

Ronna Lea is preceded in death by her son, Percie Odell Sandlin JR., her parents, grandson: Jacob Leroy (surviving widow Christina) Simmons; 15 siblings and several nieces and nephews.

Ronna is survived by her husband, Percie Odell Sandlin SR., her son, Bernard (Debbie) Sandlin, son Rodney Sandlin, Son Cody Sandlin, Daughter Ronda (Steven) Mitton, Son John Roach, Son Tony Sandlin. 

Grandchildren: Darik Simmons, Byran Stout, Taffney Sandlin, Leslie (Boomer) Clarkston, Nathan Sandlin, April (Kenny) Clore, Justin Sandlin, and Logan Sandlin.

Great Grandchildren: Kadiah (Isiah) Lucas, Kylea (Dallas) Otero, Savannah Franklin, Gwen Sandlin, Gavin (Hannah) Simmons, Kalynn (Nick) Watkins, Jerzi Simmons, Chassity Franklin, Landyn Franklin, Dallas Simmons, Lena Sandlin, Mason Sandlin, Olivia Franklin, Jaidyn Brown, Mattie Brown, Bryn Simmons, Giavanni Minick, Lincoln Simmons, Kullen Clore, Jaxon Clarkston, Jase Clarkston, Alexis Robinson, Caleb Stout, Ian Stout, Ashley (Nathan) Downs, Zane Ray, and Sayge Simmons. 

Great-Great Grandchildren: Eaden Lucas, Estelle Lucas, Elston Lucas, Serenity Franklin, Salem Franklin, Roman Franklin, Lenyx Franklin, Korde’ Amey, Vivian Downs, Israel Downs, Waylon Ray 

A graveside service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ronna Lea’s name to Hope Springs Women’s Resource Center in Attica, Indiana, or the Mellott Volunteer Fire Department in Mellott, Indiana.

The family of Ronna Lea wishes to extend their sincere thanks to IU Health Nursing Staff, and Red Crest Hospice Service for their outstanding service and compassion.

Funeral services are entrusted to Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg, Indiana.
