Ruth O. Powell, 96, from Veedersburg Indiana, passed away on April 3, 2021 after a long rewarding life in Fountain County.

Ruth was born in Fairmount, Illinois on May 5, 1924 the daughter of Clyde and Ina Weaver.  She married Orville L Powell in 1946. They had four sons, William L Powell (wife, Dodi) of Westminster, Colorado;      C. Robert Powell (wife, Andrea) of Lafayette, Indiana; Gregory C Powell, of Veedersburg, Indiana; and his twin brother Gilbert Powell who died shortly after childbirth. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, one grandchild; four sisters, Billie Brown, Alice Simmons, Virginia Roach, Mildred Shepherd; and a brother, Jack Weaver.

Ruth was a 1942 graduate of Veedersburg High School after growing up in the Covington area the first eight years of her schooling. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Veedersburg and a faithful servant to her Lord as well as to many people in the Veedersburg area through the years. She had become a member of the First Christian Church in December 1940, and at the time of her passing she was both the oldest & longest standing member of the church.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the First Christian Church 301 North Mill Street Veedersburg, IN 47987. There will be no public services, and she will be buried next to her husband and many family members at Mt Hope Cemetery in Covington, Indiana.
