Walter Carl Butler

Walter Carl Butler, 91, formerly of Veedersburg, Indiana;  passed away at 1:45 AM Sunday September 6, 2020 at St Mary Healthcare in Lafayette, Indiana.

Walter was born July 8, 1929 in Nauvoo, Alabama the son of Thomas and Evla (West) Butler. He married Sue K. Kirk August 13, 1955 in Meridian, Mississippi; she preceded him in death April 21, 1991.

He is also preceded in death by a daughter Carla Arth March 28, 2019; a great-grandson, Kale Galloway; four brothers, and three sisters.

Surviving family include three sons, Danny (Jan) Butler, Tuscaloosa AL; Doug (Kathy) Pugh, Madison IN; Brooks (Sandy) Pugh, Danville IL; eight grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.

Walter served his country in the US Air Force during World War 2, Korean War, and Vietnam War. He retired from the US Air Force with over 20 years of service. He was then employed at TeePak in Danville, IL and retired from there in 1993.  

He was a member of the F. & A. M. Lodge #491 and American Legion Post #288 both in Veedersburg. He was also a member of the Zorah Shrine in Terre Haute IN.

Graveside service will be 10:00 CST / 11:00 EST Thursday September 10, 2020 at Danville National Cemetery in Danville, Illinois with military honors provided by United States Air Force. Dickerson Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences at www.dickersonfuneralhome.com
