Willie Mae Key, 77, formerly of Veedersburg IN and Allerton IL, passed away 6:40 PM Friday October 27, 2017 at Newman Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Newman, Illinois. Mrs. Key was born March 30, 1940 in Celina, TN the daughter of Clifford and Bessie B. (Stanford) Hurd. She married her husband of 57 years T.J. Key April 12, 1956 in Glasgow, KY; he has preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her parents, and four sisters, Dean Eakle, Gwen Owens, Maxine Cross, and Linda Faye Franklin. Surviving family include a daughter, Peggy Jo Key, Sidell, IL; a son Michael (Kimberly) Key, Spirit Lake Iowa; a brother, Guye (Karen) Hurd, Mellott IN; four grandchildren, Bobbi Jo Reed, Jessica Cole Key, Kayla Renae Amos, Stephen James Key, five great-grandchildren, Maranda Lynn Reed, Russell James Reed, Kendra Leanne Amos, Hunter James Key, and Kaysen Dwayne Amos. Willie was a people person, very outgoing, and was always busy doing a project. She also enjoyed working on her home. She loved her family and spoiling her children and grandchildren. She would do anything for her family and friends. Mom you are a beautiful lady, we miss you but we know the angels are with you and dad now. You were the best wife, mom, and grandma we could have ever dreamed of. Memorial service will be 11:00 AM EST Saturday November 11, 2017 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg IN. Burial will follow service at Rockfield Cemetery near Veedersburg. Memorial contributions may be given to the Vermilion County Animal Shelter 14775 Catlin/Tilton Road Danville IL 61834.
